๐ง Polarization Index (PI)
The Real Health Indicator
PI gives deeper insight into insulation condition.
PI = IR (10 min) / IR (1 min)
Interpretation:
✔ PI > 2 → Healthy insulation
⚠ 1.5 – 2 → Acceptable (Monitor)
๐จ 1 – 1.5 → Investigate (Possible moisture/aging)
❌ < 1 → Serious insulation problem
A transformer with high IR but low PI may still have internal moisture issues.
